Right next to Nairobi train station, the Nairobi Railway Museum features exhibits from the old days of the East African Railways. Established back in 1971 to preserve and showcase the records and relics from the epic railways of East Africa, from their bold inception right through to the modern era, the museum is a must for history fans or anyone with an interest in African heritage. As well as the engrossing array of steam locomotives and rolling stock, there is an eclectic display of smaller models and other exhibits to see. The Museum is also still rail-connected, which means the restored locos have easy access to the main line for nostalgic, working steam excursions.
